Lesson Plan/Lesson Resources

-This is a lesson plan that I wrote while working with two 8th grade students on their math skills (particularly adding and subtracting integers). There is a card game that we played that can be modified for adding and subtracting whole numbers as well!

-This is a lesson that I created (the idea came from Pinterest!) using the book "The Best Part of Me" by Wendy Ewald. The book has wonderful black and white photos of kids who are showing the best parts of them selves (hair, hands, legs, etc.). On each page next to the picture, there was a poem or writing that each student crafted describing the best part of them. This lesson is so much fun to do! Students become more confident about themselves and their writing skills! This button will take you to the PowerPoint that I created to take my kids step by step through the writing process!

- When you click this button, it will take you to a PowerPoint regarding a summer camp proposal. This was an assignment that my group and I were given; we had to create a proposal for a summer writing camp that we needed funding for. I like to look back at this project because not only could it be used for a summer program, but it is a unit that could be used within any elementary classroom for ELA. The program centers around super heroes and it allows each student to get very creative!

- There are plenty of lesson plan resources on the National Councel of Teachers of English website! The button to the left will take you to the NCTE website and has options for lessons regarding informational texts, text complexity, literacy as a shared responsibility, and using evidence to inform practice.

-The button on the left will take you to an English Journal article about how scene writing can help students to stay engaged while working on their writing skills for all sorts of genres!
